Medical Negligence During Childbirth

Medical Negligence During Childbirth

Mrs N suffered negligence during the birth of her second child at her local hospital resulting in both physical and psychological harm. Mrs N was due to have a natural birth but was negligently provided the incorrect dose of Pethidine during labour. This caused Mrs N to lose consciousness and she was rushed to theatre where an emergency Caesarean section was carried out.

Garratts obtained evidence that Mrs N suffered both Physical and Psychological harm as a result of medical negligence. Mrs N not only experienced pain and suffering, having undergone an avoidable C-section, but also suffered PTSD and required Psychological therapy as a result.

Garratts assisted Mrs N in pursuing this matter and the defendant trust made admissions after which Garratts were able to negotiate a successful settlement of £45,000.00.
